ATB Night Riding, Cann Woods

Armed with at least four torches each and some led light glowsticks: myself, Lisa Mclernon, Mark Sewell and Luke Langsford headed to Cann Woods, Plympton for a tree dodging night ride session.

Having previously never tried night riding in a forest, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from our poundland bought torches and whether I would be able to see anything. With two torches on my board two on my helmet and a further glowstick on each arm it is suprising how much is visable directly in front of you. Some roots and trees catch you by suprise from time to time especially when the main torch on your helmet turns off and you have to hit it to get the connection working makes for quite an exhilerating ride.

Unfortunately a blow out left Luke without a board from lack of spares so he had a few runs on Lisa's. Luke however is a Goofy rider and Lisa is Regular meaning the lights are set up the wrong way round so the natural thing to do is ride in swicth untill it becomes too hectic, pivot round to sketch some speed before moving back into switch.

After a few runs we got the camera out and Lisa started playing with some long exposure settings follwed by a drift session using glow sticks as markers and a few shots from Mark.

First experience of freeride night ride and definately not to be the last.
